Long training in the profession of wood turner
This training, lasting 22 weeks, to the profession of woodturner allows you to acquire solid foundations in woodtuning and travel the universe of contemporary woodturner to start your activity in good living conditions.
TRAININGPut the trainees into practice through modules designed to provide the strength and diversity of skills required for independent professional wood turning.
Nowadays, the woodturners work as independent craftsmen in their own workshop, sometimes in addition to another wood activity, and on 4 axes :
- small series production,
- the production of pieces on demand,
- the creation of artistic pieces,
- the transmission of knowledge.
Our training prepares future craftsmen for these activities by putting them in contact with a main trainer and more than ten professional woodturners in activity. In addition, installation aspects are discussed at the end of the course.
22 modules of 35h, from initiation to the making of « trembleurs », from the reproduction of pieces to eccentric woodturning through ornamental and tool making, this training gathers the essential basis of the independent turner.
In each module, the objective of working in a cost-effective manner will be discussed.
Finally, the training is ends by an examination to obtain a school diploma and enables the trainee to pass the « C.A.P. Arts du bois option tournage » (100% of success today).
This training is for motivated people. Therefore, it does not necessarily require a wood training beforehand.
However, an interview at our office is essential to validate your application. A professional project will be requested.

THE RESIDENCYAt the end of the long-term training, one student from those who applied is selected for a year’s residency.
- A fully equipped workshop available for one year (from the end of one session of the long training until the end of the next session).
- Technical assistance from trainers and school employees.
- An accompaniment in the resident’s professional project with support in the evolution of the creative and/ or production activity.
- The possibility of attending some training courses at school free of charge, as an assistant.
- Accommodation behind the school.
An agreement is reached between the school and resident outlining the opportunities and obligations of each party, and follow-up is provided by several team members.
